On passe de morceaux tr\u00e8s calmes aux accents orientaux (<em>Les Cerisiers du japon<\/em>) \u00e0 des morceaux tr\u00e8s rock et dynamiques (<em>Les Rotatives<\/em>), en passant par des m\u00e9lodies r\u00e9p\u00e9titives et obs\u00e9dantes (<em>Des chevilles dans la t\u00eate<\/em>) ou bien encore des ballades paysannes (<em>Un morceau de campagne<\/em>), des fl\u00e2neries urbaines (<em>R\u00eaves<\/em>), une bossa nova enjou\u00e9e (<em>Pernambouc<\/em>) ou de fantaisistes r\u00eaveries musicales que n\u2019aurait pas reni\u00e9es Erik Satie (<em>La Chambre<\/em>). Tous les matins du monde s\u2019y marient ainsi \u00e0 un chaloup\u00e9 three-steps (\u201cLes Cerisiers du Japon\u201d) ou \u00e0 celui de la bossa (\u201cPernambouc\u201d), tandis que de persistantes touches yiddish perp\u00e9tuent la conceptual continuity si ch\u00e8re \u00e0 feu Frank Zappa (\u201cLa Travers\u00e9e Du D\u00e9sert\u201d). De m\u00eame que \u201cR\u00eave\u201d et \u201cUn Morceau De Campagne\u201d empruntent au Mali leurs rythmes en pizzicati, et \u201cL\u2019Arbre Blanc\u201d au delta du Mississippi ses glissandos de notes tenues et diminu\u00e9es, l\u2019h\u00e9ritage classique se nourrit ici d\u2019une perp\u00e9tuelle inventivit\u00e9, o\u00f9 se marient ceux du fameux groupe des Six (on songe ainsi \u00e0 Satie sur \u201cLa Chambre Orange\u201d, ainsi qu\u2019\u00e0 Darius Milhaud sur \u201cSixi\u00e8me Ciel\u201d et \u201cLes Coraux\u201d) avec l\u2019auto-sampling d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 par le g\u00e9nial Andrew Bird (\u201cLes Rotatives\u201d). L\u2019archet de Couteau sait se r\u00e9v\u00e9ler tour \u00e0 tour envo\u00fbtant, caressant et\u2026 tranchant jusqu\u2019\u00e0 Loos.
